Some Myths about Drugs

So yesterday I posed a question to all of you (followers): “what drug do you want to try most?”  Though I didn’t get many answers, two of the four that I did in fact get I feel the need to address.  There are a lot of myths surrounding drugs as well as a lot of propaganda.  No, not all drugs are good.  Similarly, not all drugs are bad.  Even so, sometimes the drugs that I consider good (I’m sure many educated people on the topic would agree on what I consider “good”) are not good for everyone.

So what do you consider a good drug?  Personally, I believe that tryptamines, phenethylamines, empathogens, and cannabinoids are good drugs.  That is not to say that they cannot pose dangers.  If you decide to experiment with these substances I highly suggest that a) you research them first, b) you get yourself an experienced trip-sitter, c) you do them in a comfortable, safe environment, and d) you keep anti-psychotics on hand in case a trip goes bad (this is only in regard to tryptamines and phenethylamines).  These rules don’t necessarily go for empathogens and cannabinoids, as long as you have common sense you should be alright (though you should research any substance you ingest first).  If you have no idea what these terms that I’m using are and are considering experimenting, please do your research, fool. ;)

Okay, so what is a “bad” drug then? Aren’t all drugs bad?  I just said all drugs weren’t bad! Either way, I consider “bad” drugs to be ones that make you a shittier person, ones that are highly addictive, really unhealthy, etc.  There are different levels of “bad” though.  Cocaine, for example, is a drug I consider mildly bad. It is a addictive and it makes a lot of people act like total assholes.  In contrast, mushrooms (IMO) really make you think about the world and can expand your mind.

“But drugs are going to kill my brain!” So does alcohol, if you even consider that a drug (because well…it is).  But I’m assuming what you’re worried about is brain cells and the overall effect of using drugs.  The key here is moderation.  There are drugs that can have positive physical effects and/or positive psychological effects.  For example, scientists think that mushrooms can be the cure to migraines! Currently, people take prescription pills for migraine even though it is suspected that mushrooms could do a way better job.  It is also well known that psychedelics can be really helpful in treating depression, anxiety, ptsd, etc.  This leads me to my next question/answer…

I really want to try acid, mushrooms, etc. but I have anxiety and I’m afraid of having a bad trip/ I’m just fucking afraid of having a bad trip  Okay dude, first off…relax.  How your trip goes is mostly determined by you.  If you get an experienced trip sitter, are in a comfortable environment, and have a positive state of mind you will be golden!  Now, I highly recommend that you, whether you’re afraid of a bad trip or not, have an anti-psychotic on hand. If you’re having a bad trip (ego death, “I think I’m going crazy, “I poisoned myself”,etc.), the anti-psychotic will make it go away.  But on the subject of bad trips, I’ve been there.  To be frank, they might actually be the trips you gain the most from.  Yeah, they are fucking scary but you will learn SO much about yourself and the world.  Also, if you have an experienced trip-sitter, you can be guided through the experience and it will turn out just fine.  In regards to people who are depressed, have ptsd, anxiety, etc., many of these drugs are scientifically known to help alleviate  symptoms if not cure these problems.  I myself suffered from anxiety and horrible panic attacks but once I began using psychedelics the anxiety pretty much vanished.  I haven’t taked anxiety medicine in ages and I feel fantastic (BUT, just because it worked for me, does not mean it will work for you).
